We’ve all heard that our thoughts will shape our outcomes – but how do thoughts actually shape our actions?
This is a fascinating matter to explore, since research has shown that we have between 45,000 and 51,000 thoughts a day. That’s about 150 to 300 thoughts a minute! And research has also shown that for most people, 80% of those thoughts are negative. Crazy, right? And we all know how easily a negative mind will talk you out of doing new things and forging new connections – if you allow it to.
That’s why it’s so important to have some set positive statements that will help you see the way forward and guide you through your day. Often referred to as mantras or affirmations, these are short, powerful and inspiring statements that will help you reclaim your day and get back in control of your mindset.
Whether you say them, think them or even hear them, the statements will quickly become the thoughts that can create your reality – and a very successful one at that.
Here are some of our favourite everyday mantras that are sure to keep you thriving and at your best – even on the harder days.
I am the architect of my life — I build its foundation and choose its contents
Basically, you get to choose and create your outcomes from this day forth. Instead of being a victim to circumstance, this mantra puts you back in control when you need it most. What should be your next step? Decide, then do.
I have been given endless talents which I begin to utilise today
Yes, you have your roles at work and at home, but you are also so much more. You have every ability to tap into a range of problem solving, communication, analytical and creative modes. When faced with a new challenge, always ask yourself – how can I solve this problem first? See what you come up with before referring to someone else.
Creative energy surges through me and leads me to new and brilliant ideas
This is a wonderful mantra if you need to get unstuck fast. Can’t you just feel its pulse through your awareness? There are always at least ten possible solutions to any problem. Repeat this statement and let your mind be filled with creative and unusual possibilities for a better way forward – right now.
Today, I am mindful and productive in my choices
Even more so than our thoughts, we are our daily habits. After all, our lives are shaped by what we do moment by moment. So today, take an inventory of your repetitive actions and assess where you can lift your game. Is it by getting up earlier? Or skipping that Diet Coke at lunch? Have foresight a week or even a month forward and notice how your future-self responds to this new change.
My future is an ideal projection of what I envision now
This must be remembered every time you feel upset or disappointed. Things can change – and you have the power to change them instantly. When things feel hopeless or stuck, take a moment to envision a brighter future.
Today, I will try new things and embrace new experiences
OK, this one is a challenge, but it’s incredibly important to learn new things and stretch your horizons – even if it’s sometimes uncomfortable. Face that which you have resistance towards and train your mind to handle different situations. Successful people are adaptable and calm, so be okay to engage with things that you may not be used to. New experiences will give you capacity to handle more of life – and that assures its fullness.
As you can see, by declaring your mental position firmly you direct your mind into positive action. Just like the driver behind a brilliant machine, positive mantras will help you purify your thoughts and restructure the dynamic of your brain so you can truly begin to see that everything is impossible. Blue skies and happy days are on the horizon!
